  3. For anyone that wants a less shady VPN, I've found Mullvad[1] to be very good. They take privacy to the next level, where you can literally mail them an envelope full of cash with your anonymous login key and they'll top up the credit on the account. I also like Mullvad because they seem to spend approximately $0 on marketing (at least compared to the other guys) and don't do any of those bullshitty perpetual "limit…

  5. I'm sure European governments love all the press that the US gets for this kind of stuff because it draws attention away from them. A lot of Europeans seem to know more about wiretapping in the US than in their own country. A 5 minute search will bring up lots of examples. These are a bit old, but I can't imagine any powers have been removed since the laws have been passed. (I apologize for the tone of some of these…

  8. We've known for years that HTTP (clear-text) traffic can be middled out of exit nodes. What FalseCONNECT showed was that HTTPS (encrypted) traffic via web proxies could be middled. We should all be very, very, very troubled by that. In terms of the EFF article, it's just one of many which recommend the use of proxies and was just an example providing that this has been guidance that's been provided for quite awhile.…

According to TorGuard's blog post they stole information from an install script that was allegedly used at C7 hosting: https://torguard.net/blog/when-bug-bounties-border-on-blackm... An installer script could easily give an attacker insight into internal TorGuard IP addresses that would otherwise be hidden. My guess is these i…
