Traefik is another option here for a reverse proxy with automated renewals; I use it in a ton of places. https://traefik.io

HN discussionMost people will use nginx-proxy [0] or Traefik [1] for front ending home labs with LetsEncrypt certs... Beyond that people will protect them with things like Tailscale [2], Cloudflare Tunnels [3] or even just mTLS [4] for protected access. Home labbing today has a lot of amazing software and it's hard to keep up! And as for dashboarding [5] on top of all this there are a lot of options. Also, for those new to the g…

HN discussionInteresting. I like the restartless configs idea. This is becoming more common these days with short lived microservices. This week I just switched my load balancer setup from HAProxy to Traefik - very nice API based setup. https://traefik.io/

HN discussionHere's a link to swag, if anyone hasn't heard of it before: https://github.com/linuxserver/docker-swag It does seem like an interesting and useful project, though there are also other more popular alternatives like Caddy: https://caddyserver.com/ (even though their V2 not being backwards compatible was a tad annoying) Oh, and some people also have pretty good luck with software like Traefik: https://traefik.io/traef…

HN discussionTraefik Proxy[0] was a game changer for my self-hosted setup of Docker containers. Traefik can read labels applied to Docker containers (easily done with docker-compose) and setup the proxy for you as containers come and go. Even maintains the Lets Encrypt certificates seamlessly. HN discussion> ae is closest to y, or hi. So Tryfik, is my guess, otherwise is Trayfik. If it's European fik, might be feek. *Just taking a guess here. I wondered how to pronounce Traefik myself, so I started googling, and came across this: https://traefik.io/blog/how-to-pronounce-traefik-d06696a3f02... Tldr: just pronounce as you would "traffic".

HN discussionI moved from Caddy to Traefik ( https://traefik.io/ ) several months ago. Granted, nginx has years (decades?) on some of these newer webserver/reverse-proxies, but I have been happy with all the built in niceties of traefik so far (single binary, etc), and haven't really experienced any negatives.

HN discussion> You linked Swarm CA renewal operations; this is maybe 1/50 of the functionality of cert-manager. Is there a product like cert-manager that I can run on Swarm that's tightly integrated? > Why not have ingress intrinsically linked to the underlying reaources like k8s does? Your suggestion means that someone needs to come up with a methodology and automation to update ingress with Swarm. Yeah, it's obviously possible…

HN discussionRe HAProxy, take a look at Traefik. It's a thin, full-featured load balancer that supports Kubernetes out of the box. https://traefik.io/ Another option is running Nginx via the Nginx Ingress Controller, which is also great.
