  1. There is tresorit ( https://tresorit.com/ ), but depending on what you want to do, they seem to be a little expensive.

  13. I highly recommend Tresorit. I've been using it for just over a year and couldn't be happier. Simple interface and the app seems very performant (macOS). At least I haven't noticed it hogging resources. https://tresorit.com/

  19. Systems providing such services exist; they aren't as popular. https://tresorit.com/ , for example, may be a useful litmus test to monitor for this use case. They've had to implement soft deletion because "The option to recover files has been among the top feature requests we’ve heard from our users and customers" ( https://tresorit.com/blog/file-restore-launch/ ).

  21. The market for end-to-end encrypted office suite is pretty immature. There're products like Tresorit[1] and GraphiteDocs[2], but they are more like text editors, than a full-featured word processor that newsrooms need. One good google docs alternative is Zoho Writer ( https://zoho.com/writer ). Zoho doesn't do funny business scanning content for Ads. You pay and you use the software, that's all (Source: I work @ Zoh…

  25. You'd think so, but it's not that easy. Even the big service providers, like Dropbox and Microsoft have run into issues of scale that result in price increases or reduced storage quotas, later in the product cycle, forced onto existing customers. Typically a result of poor early planning or lack of insight into actual resources required per user. Or bait and switch to grow fast quickly. Dropbox, recently (quietly) r…

  29. I'm very happy with Tresorit [0]. I used to use Spideroak but switched when their warrant canary got removed. The big plus for me is end to end encryption. I use it for documents and scans and never felt okay having those in Dropbox. I also have their cli client running on my Synology NAS so I get a local copy as well as in the cloud. The only downside, it is a fair bit more pricey when you need a lot of storage. [0…
