What Hacker News says?
https://utf9k.net/ My site has gone through a lot of iterations but I'm currently trying to balance some cool, newer features with a relatively simple codebase. It's currently using Hugo w/ Markdown but there's also a couple things like a live player powered by server sent events which is neat. I also have a bunch of blog posts and other things. A cool trick is doing some content introspection with Hugo such as what…

HN discussionPersonally, I do this kind of thing manually if I want to send some positive feedback to people who work at companies I like, but they don't have any obvious emails published. A recent example was the CEO of Evernote for the work put in to their behind the scenes series although I don't expect anyone to read it of course. People are busy! I wrote a bit about it here: https://utf9k.net/blog/email-lookup/ Now does thi…

HN discussionI believe the _5 syntax is specific to Jupyter, but in Python, the output of the last statement you execute is bound to _ For example, if you simply enter 4 into a Python REPL, printing _ will also print 4 It's really handy if you call a long statement in the REPL and forget to save the output to a variable I wrote about it once if you'd like to see some better examples: https://utf9k.net/blog/lost-python-results/

HN discussionOh neat, I had come across the headless client yesterday (and submitted a now-fixed bug report for it after running into some issues). Before opening HN this morning and seeing this post, I actually wrote a post about how I'm experimentally using headless to publish my blog: https://utf9k.net/blog/obsidian-headless/ Well, that post was my experiment but I'll be looking forward to trying it out going forward. There a…

HN discussionI'm over at https://utf9k.net although I've had the same layout for long enough that I feel like it needs a bit more personality hah. The little live player widget in the top right is my pride and joy :') https://github.com/marcus-crane/utf9k for the source and https://github.com/marcus-crane/gunslinger for the cludgy backend that powers the live player

HN discussionWhat’s the advantage of this over https://utf9k.net/blog/conditional-gitconfig/ ? I use this technique to use my personal identity by default, and my work identity with repos that are checked out under ~/$WORK I even have git aliases that behave differently depending on which identity I'm using.
