What Hacker News says?

  1. I like little TIL posts like this, introducing new tools and sharing first-hand experiences with them. Working around restrictions (like using animations in Github Markdown) leads to this kind of creative stuff. I looked at the resulting SVG https://koaning.io/posts/svg-gifs/parrot.svg and realised that a lot of inline SVG elements are used within inline SVG within..the SVG. I've never seen that before. So thank you…

  5. actually, there is a trick that allows you to store the state of your visualisation as you are adding layers. you don't need to have all your data in just one dataframe. http://koaning.io/casino-gambling-simulations-in-r.html

  7. out of curiosity, how many lines of code do you need in matplotlib to generate http://koaning.io/theme/images/monopoly_plot3.png ? in R, you'll only need one. also i have done this work in a python notebook, you can specify R cells to take pandas dataframes allowing you to still use ggplot2 for plotting. see old video of mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZW8Aei2wlsM
