Why HN links it
HN readers link Vitalik Buterin's blog as an example of a simple text site hosted on IPFS, and cite his essay "Make Ethereum Cypherpunk Again" on blockchains and cypherpunk roots.

What Hacker News says?
.eth only resolves to an IPFS content if you set it up to do that. shaq.eth probably is not hosting any IPFS content. Here's Vitalik's blog hosted on IPFS and linked to his ENS: https://vitalik.eth.link/ (PS - appending .link would resolve any ENS domain which is hosting IPFS static sites)

HN discussionIPFS is still super slow, but can work well for raw HTML sites like this. For example http://vitalik.eth.link is hosted on IPFS. It's a simple text blog and is pretty fast.

on “I made my first web0 website today. It's so cool it just works”Worth considering in light of Vitalik’s recent essay “Make Ethereum Cypherpunk Again” which addresses how blockchains lost their original cypherpunk roots to financialization and the accompanying statist interventions. https://vitalik.eth.link/general/2023/12/28/cypherpunk.html
