Why HN links it

HN readers link xint.io for its technical writeup of the Copy Fail Linux privilege escalation bug (CVE-2026-31431), which commenters say gives more exploit detail than the submitted link.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 7 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

Xint catches real, exploitable vulnerabilities in your code and live applications, not theoretical risks. Find out what an attacker would find first.

Yes, strongly agree. This is HUGE news, I would have skimmed over "Copy Fail". The blog post might be a better place to link to also, it has more details on the exploit. https://xint.io/blog/copy-fail-linux-distributions There are also some good threads on which distros are vulnerable and mitigations on the github page. https://github.com/theori-io/copy-fail-CVE-2026-31431/issues

  11. Good but not necessarily better that was is already pay-as-you-go available today. ref. https://www.flyingpenguin.com/the-boy-that-cried-mythos-veri... This AISLE benchmark is interesting in this matter: https://aisle.com/blog/ai-cybersecurity-after-mythos-the-jag... And the recently discovered Copy Fail by Xint code is another proof that the gating is overblown: https://xint.io/blog/copy-fail-linux-distributions

  12. No, they did not. Careful of falling for the psychosis. > This finding was AI-assisted, but began with an insight from Theori researcher Taeyang Lee, who was studying how the Linux crypto subsystem interacts with page-cache-backed data. https://xint.io/blog/copy-fail-linux-distributions

  13. True, but security breach inside a sandbox/container can cause serious damage too(stealing your keys, spreading via your code/release etc). And containers aren't for security anyway(e.g. Copy Fail breaching to host https://xint.io/blog/copy-fail-pod-to-host )
