HN discussionIf you’re looking to bring HDMI content into OBS easily and cheaply, check out my review on the $15 HDMI capture card that recently made the rounds here on Hacker News. Essentially this card has a native resolution of 1280x720, which is a good target if you’re trying to make text legible. https://www.naut.ca/blog/2020/07/09/cheap-hdmi-capture-card-...

HN discussionYeah, the “Your password is encrypted and cannot be read by Apple” is a bold faced lie. This can definitely be used to crack a passcode. Log out of iCloud if possible. I made a mini series on self hosting my cloud services here: https://www.naut.ca/blog/tag/shs/

HN discussionQEMU 6.2 introduces full hypervisor support for M1 Macs. I've installed ARM Ubuntu Server in a VM on my MacBook, and wrote a blog post explaining it. HN discussionIf you want to find out how to backup your iPhone on Linux, I've also made a guide! It's actually kind of complicated, but it can be fully automated. I connect my iPhone to my Linux server in my room to do an incremental backup every night at 5 AM (it also fast charges at 1.8 amps over USB C). I then create ZFS snapshots every week, since the iPhone backup is an overwrite type. https://www.naut.ca/blog/2020/03/20/se…
