  1. This is great (and practical) advice. I hope the Octave BDFL reads it. Continuum Analytics might be another good fit, given a decent amount of ML work coming out of academia is in the form of a matlab file. I'm not sure if by 'partner' they mean 'people we give money/people who give us money', but it costs nothing to ask: https://www.continuum.io/partners

  5. Yeah, I'm trying to figure this out too. TensorFlow needs Yarn support. Ideally, Yarn would allocate resources and inform the processes of the various workers in the graph, etc. etc. I see that as the harder part. If you use mesos, then there is some preliminary support for that. https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/issues/1996 Since TensorFlow has native dependencies on CUDA stuff for GPU support, I don't think…

  17. You might want to try installing anaconda[0]. After you have installed, follow the instructions here[1]. There are also lots of videos in youtube if you have not yet done a little bit of googling. By the way, this all requires that you know how to code in python else you can get your hands wet here[2]. Now if you already know how to code in python and know how to use jupyter, you're ready to learn about neural netwo…

  19. If you are getting good results from CUDA and PyCUDA, you might want to take a look at Numba and NumbaPro: http://numba.pydata.org and http://continuum.io/numbapro . They are still in their early stages but work pretty well on a number of cases. Here is an example of what NumbaPro can do: http://docs.continuum.io/numbapro/generalizedufuncs.html#gen... 27. pip is unfortunately a a bit hit and miss on Windows. The (IMO) 'correct' way to install package on windows is to first install Anaconda Python ( https://www.continuum.io/downloads ) and then: 0) Check if the package came preinstalled with Anaconda 1) if not try to use conda to install packages, 2) if conda doesn't have the package, see if it's been uploaded here: http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/ 3) try pi…
