What Hacker News says?

  1. Unfortunately, there is not. Amazon will often group similar unbranded products together under the same ASIN. (This was a particularly serious issue for Arduino a few years ago, when Amazon started listing genuine Arduino products under the same ASIN as third-party clones: https://blog.arduino.cc/2013/07/10/send-in-the-clones/ )

  3. Go team only changed their message due to the pitch forks they were getting from the UNIX/C crowd. There are people that believe systems programming languages in an OS kernel is doable with some form of GC, and then there those that will never change their mind. https://www.f-secure.com/en/consulting/foundry/usb-armory https://blog.arduino.cc/2019/08/23/tinygo-on-arduino/ https://gvisor.dev/ https://github.com/mit-p…

  7. On the Pico itself? Unsure. But Arduino is already set to release a Nano version with the RP2040 and 16 MB of flash [1], so it's probably not crazy hard :) [1] https://blog.arduino.cc/2021/01/20/welcome-raspberry-pi-to-t...

  11. They don't directly, but Arduino are apparently making an RP2040 board with Bluetooth and WiFi. The accompanying blog post [1] mentions the Arduino Nano RP2040 Connect [2], which includes "a highly efficient power section, a powerful WiFi/Bluetooth module, and the ECC608 crypto chip, enabling anybody to create secure IoT applications with this new microcontroller". 23. The point is that there was no reason not to just contribute to Wiring and take it from there. The nefarious thing is that they took the project and rewrote its history to make it seem as if it was their own work, meanwhile still taking new Wiring development and incorporating it into Arduino, all without credit. So it was about control and ego. I would assume that even some open source licenses were broken. Also, B…

  27. And the Arduino designers do not object to people copying the electronic design (even less so if there are design changes like substituting in a different serial chip). What they ARE objecting to is people copying the branding and graphics (down to the "made in Italy"): https://blog.arduino.cc/2013/07/10/send-in-the-clones/ Still, different serial chips mean different device drivers, so one product shouldn't be sold…
