David Adrian's personal blog at dadrian.io covers security and programming. Since 2019, 14 different Hacker News readers have linked it 19 times, most often “Post-quantum cryptography is too damn big”. It is still writing: the last post was on 2026-10-15, and you can follow it by feed.
Too few sampled comments (2) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
David Adrian's posts on post-quantum cryptography, including key establishment and the overhead of PQ algorithms. HN commenters cite the topic in threads on OpenSSH and Google's asymmetric crypto plans, without judging the writing.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 2 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.
I am somewhere between a security person, startup person, and academic. Most recently, I was a product manager at Google, working on adding value to Chrome Security. Previously, I cofounded Censys, an attack-surface management security startup. I left Censys after their Series A. They’ve since raise

What Hacker News says?
As a number of people have observed, what's happening now is mostly about key establishment, which tends to happen relatively infrequently, and so the overhead is mostly not excessive. With that said, a little more detail: - Current PQ algorithms, for both signature and key establishment, have much larger key sizes than traditional algorithms. In terms of compute, they are comparably fast if not faster. - Most proto…

HN discussionOCSP stapling, when done correctly with fallback issuance, is just a worse solution than short-lived certificates. OCSP lifetimes are 10 days. I wrote about this some here [1]. [1]: https://dadrian.io/blog/posts/revocation-aint-no-thang/

HN discussionThe tech is only being developed and standardized now. Some of the post-quantum algorithms (like SIKE) have fallen. NIST standardization is ongoing. "nobody has bothered" ignores the fact that this is probably the biggest thing going on in cryptography right now. We're in the comments on a post about how Google is working towards adding support! And it's not really ready yet, unfortunately: The current post-quantum…
