What Hacker News says?
This looks great (both Supabase and Nhost)! Years ago I wanted a self-hosted version of the real-time subscription of Firebase and had come across DeepStream[1]. It now seems to be in maintenance mode due to lack of contributors and maintainers. [1]: https://deepstream.io/

HN discussionYou could cut down costs or at least improve cost-predictability by hosting something like https://deepstream.io/ instead of Firebase. The problem however is that you are still exposed to your cloud provider's fees - if AWS or Google Cloud up their band-with cost, you're in the same boat. Than again, the independence gained by running a server in a basement comes with a very hefty penalty.

HN discussionTrue, I used to be really interested in Firebase and their set of products. But because of several pretty bad experiences related to vendor lock-in and (very) high prices I switched over to an open source alternative. It might not be so well known, but I found http://www.deepstream.io to have a relatively similar feature set, without having to deal with bad support (if it bothers you, just fix it yourself) and high…

HN discussionCould I use this opportunity to ask a more general question: What are your incentives and goals when creating and maintaining open source projects? I appreciate this sounds a little disillusioned, but after creating a number of reasonably succesful projects ( http://golden-layout.com/ , https://deepstream.io/ , earlier https://wolframhempel.github.io/photobooth-js/ ) and I still can't find a fully satisfying answer.

Sort of like nestJS except less decorators and more functional ( https://vramework.io/ ).
