What Hacker News says?

  1. Mine is running Hypriot OS ( https://blog.hypriot.com ): Everything on it is dockerized. The coolest application: An Airconnect container ( https://github.com/philippe44/AirConnect ) which upgrades my mediocre Internet radio device with AirPlay.

  3. On my Raspberry Pi 3 I'm running Hypriot OS which installs a minimal host OS and then just runs Docker. Thanks to cloud-init (Old version though) you can even pre-configure the boot image with your SSH key etc. which allows you to automate your initial install. https://blog.hypriot.com/downloads/ https://cloudinit.readthedocs.io/en/0.7.9/topics/capabilitie...

  5. Everybody who is interested in test-driving Docker 1.6 in a really easy and fast way and has a Raspberry Pi lying around should have a look at our prepared Docker SD card image. Get it here: http://blog.hypriot.com/post/docker-1-6-is-finally-released-...

  7. Nvidia Shield console? 3GB of RAM, a fancy video card (with support for CUDA), and gigabit ethernet. The guys at Hypriot have even demonstrated a working Docker install [0] The custom partition layout is kind of wonky, so I'd likely just by the non-PRO version and use USB 3 and an SSD for additional storage. I'd be happier still if Nvidia supported running other distros on it -- I wouldn't even be mad if I could no…

  11. Thanks! So I have been playing with it on a RPi3. There are instructions here on how to build for the RPi: https://blog.hypriot.com/post/building-a-64bit-docker-os-for... It has about enough CPU to handle recording about 2 streams at the same time. I think part of the problem is that Raspbian does not have the GCC flags optimized for the processor in the RPi3 and doesn't have 64bit enabled. I played a little with th…

  15. For what it's worth, when the original Rosetta (PowerPC to Intel) was released, it wasn't faster to run emulated/translated PowerPC apps on the first generation Intel Mac, but a few Intel Mac generations later, it was. There was a reason why Apple decided to migrate off of PowerPC. :-) See also this post about Rosetta performance from someone who ported Google Earth: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23686924 For…

  19. Yep! I have an RPi 4, and at one point it was running Hypriot [0] on it, with some lighter containers being handled by it instead of the larger x86 nodes. I'm pretty sure I also had it running as part of a K8s cluster for a brief time. [0]: https://blog.hypriot.com
