  1. I'm going to hold on my Affinity as long as I can and try to integrate as much of my workflow to Inkscape as possible (even if UI feels like CorelDraw). Also keeping eye on: https://graphite.rs/

  13. You might look into https://graphite.rs/ . MS Paint is about my digital art interface complexity limit, but I do read Graphite's blog posts and their app sounds really attractive for more serious artists

  15. One thing to look at (which I'm very intrigued by) is https://graphite.rs As a proof of concept about the possibility of a design tool with the potential to share information in this way it's intriguing. I'll also add that a major pain point of FL/OSS tools for me is that so many of them HEAVILY depend on local file descriptors which makes remote storage access a PITA.

  17. I vaguely wondered if FreeHand would make an appearance in this thread. :) Two features that come to mind as IIRC being unique (as compared to Illustrator) were multi-page documents and multiple page size multi-page documents. Ideal for the complete standard set of company branded print documents: business card, "With Compliments" slip, and letterhead. :D Adobe's acquisition of Macromedia and subsequent killing of (…

  21. A tool which looks at this sort of thing which was mentioned here recently: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44118159 but which didn't seem to get much traction is: https://pontus.granstrom.me/scrappy/ but it pretty much only works for JavaScript programmers and their friends (or folks interested in learning JavaScript). 25. Indeed, it's weird that nobody has brought node-based editing to regular image manipulation before our project, but that's our goal with Graphite. With the equally important goal of making the node aspect optional for users by building such capable tooling that it can abstract away the node graph for all conventional image editing use cases, allowing users to work purely with the WYSIWYG tools that secretly manage t…
