Why HN links it
Joe Morrison's Substack covers the satellite imagery industry, including why it has few companies outside governments, synthetic aperture radar, and open imagery. HN commenters mostly link it as a source on that topic.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 5 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

HN discussionAgreed. I’m biased, but keep an eye on synthetic aperture radar. The physics of those systems allow for monitoring with a pretty different theoretical limit on price-per-revisit from their optical companions: https://joemorrison.substack.com/p/why-im-leaving-azavea-to-...

HN discussionA newsletter is the same thing as a blog post, right? In that case I think this one about the satellite imagery industry is interesting: https://joemorrison.substack.com/ The main thing you learn is that outside of governments there isn’t much of a satellite image industry. Which is why there aren’t that many posts.
