  3. I actually found him originally from his incredible clock: https://mitxela.com/projects/precision_clock_mk_iv Which was posted here a while back: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44144750 I'm a sucker for a novel clock concept, and the level of detail he's operating at is beautiful to witness. I actually have a collection of cool clocks here: https://lynkmi.com/oisin/Clocks

If you like this, you'll also love Mitxela's fluid simulation pendant [0], and likely all of his work! I'm consistently astounded by how informative and enjoyable his stuff his. He shares so much, so freely and it's so well produced, with a lovely voice to boot. Inspirational! Watch his vids, read his write-ups or both! We need more people like this. 9. I feel like this would definitely be possible. I was reminded of https://mitxela.com/projects/kiloboot , which uses an ENC28J60 for the ethernet stuff. I feel like you could probably quite easily bitbang SPI, given it's quite a forgiving protocol, just dedicate a couple of addresses in the memory space to interact directly with the bus (maybe with a separate shift register chip if you want to make things a bit easie…

  13. > It's an impressive electronics project, but is it an earring anyone would want to wear? Are you kidding me? Just about every STEM gal would pay a pretty penny for a set of those! The industrial[0] is a bit too obscure, the led-ring variant[1] is a little underwhelming, but a full LED matrix? Absolutely breathtaking. 15. I didn't see that bit, but the layout image[0] shows very large cuts in the ground plane with traces running right over the middle of them, especially between U8 and U7. There's plenty of space here to add some ground traces between them, but that hasn't been done. > you never really know until you get it tested. I suspect they haven't given the lack of a CE marking on the board. As an aside that bothers me a bit gi…

I of course don't know your specific circumstances, but nonetheless I'd like to recommend you the author's own take on their work described in a rant titled "Spare Time and Hard Work". It's available here: https://mitxela.com/rants (unfortunately It's not possible to link directly to it so you'll need to scroll a little bit down to find it) I personally like coming back to it from time to time, since it's inspiring…

  29. Adafruit Feather 32u4 Bluefruit LE has an Atmega32u4 (same as Arduino), LiPoly charger and BTLE built in for $30. I'm cheap, so soon I'm going to have a go at reflashing a $3 HC06 module with the RN-42 firmware [1], and using that with a $3 Arduino Pro Micro and a $1 TP4056 Charger board for the same capabilities but messier. I always learn more by messing around though. [1] https://mitxela.com/projects/bluetooth_hi…
