What Hacker News says?

  1. After a year+ of using Roam, I discovered https://mem.ai a few months ago and haven’t gone back to Roam. Mem is invite only beta I think. Raised 5.6M from A16z. It has bidirectional linking, tagging etc. Easy workflow via “mem spotlight” - you can capture websites or highlights into mem, or paste from mem into other apps (e.g snippets) https://get.mem.ai/faq But very intrigued by obsidian. I briefly tried it before…

  3. Yes! these read/write, and reference/recall ratios are good measures of how we should do things. the article case is only valid for a certain range. Maybe, for you, a system like mem.ai [1] is another step forward beyond the burdens of markdown wiki (for certain high-write/low-read use cases at least) 1- You "write" new information without each time asking yourself: where to put a new page in the hierarchy? what to…

  5. I really love obsidian. Sure it has a couple of wrinkles, the mobile app is new still and has a couple more wrinkles, but it scratches so many itches I have around note taking. Currently using it alongside https://get.mem.ai/ and love the pairing for knowledge base and real time notes. I’m working on combining the two to come up with my ideal set up.

  13. A small tip I use -> I ask myself : can I find it later using a keyword ? if yes, I pass. I may sometimes append these keywords (and related ones) to my notes (if they are specific/new) See, the problem is the keywords : the way we search for it later will sometimes not lead (directly anyway) to the original keywords/results. So, The day we will have good enough NLP search for history/bookmarks/notes, this problem w…
