  7. This kind of comment kinda misses the point. Haskell (IMHO) won't ever be mainstream for much the same reasons Lisp never was (or will be?): it has an incredibly high learning curve (eg [1]). This is really the problem of the "pure" functional languages. Functional programming is suited to some tasks. With others the fit is almost tortuous. Imperative programming is well-suited to how we think and how we break down…

I've been experimenting with it these weeks. The "Learning Go" is an interesting book: http://www.miek.nl/projects/learninggo/ Also the number of projects is increasing: http://code.google.com/p/go-wiki/wiki/Projects#Linguistics I'm looking for cool Go projects out there, so share your github stuff!

  11. Miek Gieben's [1] DNS library [2] is truly excellent. I use it at Port 6379 for an authoritative DNS server, looking up Redis instances [3]. I too have found Go surprisingly productive and enjoyable to code, and our servers seem very stable so far. I've recently decided to pick up Go myself for a little experiment I'm running. I highly recommend the free "Learning Go" ebook [1] [2]. It's barely over 100 pages (huge plus). There are some things that annoy me. 1. Reversing type and variable/parameter name is just aesthetics I guess but it still really bothers me. Perhaps there's a reason (eg parsing speed) but I'd still prefer: float32 f1 float32 f2 = 45.4 over…

Read this: http://miek.nl/downloads/2010/c++-talk.pdf?we-require-more-d... Then read the article again. C++ terrifies me.
