  7. it used to be the case that graphql requests are in POST, but not anymore: https://nearform.com/open-source/urql/docs/api/core/#:~:text... example for urql on top of http level caching, you can do any type of caching (redis / fs / etc) just like a regular rest but at a granular level, for ex: user {comments(threadId: abc, page: 1, limit: 20) { body, postedAt} is requested and then cached, another request can come in…

  9. URQL has normalized caching and it works great! You opt into it by adopting their graphcache exchange. https://nearform.com/open-source/urql/docs/graphcache/ It also works great with fragments. And its exchange system is super powerful and flexible. I’ve even seen an offline-first sync engine built as a custom URQL exchange in a react native app. The frontend could be written as if the app always is online but it wo…

  13. I live in Ireland and our contact tracing app (using Google+Apple tech) seems to be doing well. There was about 1 million install 1-2 days after it launched, currently standing at 1.4 million installs (population is 4.9 million), along with some positive contacts reported: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-53525712 It was also donated to open source. https://www.nearform.com/blog/ireland-donates-contact-tracin...…

  21. Wow, great work so far. This is really interesting. My guess is that they were moving content out of some proprietary early-2000s CMS around 2015. Instead of carefully parsing the storage format and extracting the text, they dumped it and the output was peppered with garbage. To sanitize the output, they simply elided certain character sequences. Further speculation, 'xb' and 'xe' (for 'beginning' and 'end') were co…

  27. nearForm[1] sell node.js consulting and software to enterprises like Condé Nast, Universal, Intel and Qualcomm. They organize NodeConf Europe[2]. They're bootstrapped with 100% year on year growth so far and projecting 200% growth this year (according to the article). One of the interesting things here is that they're Irish, but instead of setting up in Dublin (home to the EU headquarters of Google, Facebook, Micros…
