What Hacker News says?

  1. there is also Normal Computing[0] that are trying different approaches to chips like that. Anyway these are very difficult problems and Extropic already abandoned some of their initial claims about superconductors to pivot to more classical CMOS circuits[1] [0]: https://www.normalcomputing.com [1]: https://www.zach.be/p/making-unconventional-computing-practi...

  5. As I was reading through this, I realized that there's also something kind of similar but in the 'opposite direction' - thermodynamic computing. E.g. - radiation tolerant ML: do ML 'work' steps despite noise - thermodynamic computing: drive ML work 'steps' 'through' noise Makes you wonder if there could even be a meta level where you can isolate the noise due to radiation, and pass that as an input to the protection…

  7. >I can just as well describe the future evolution of the internal combustion engine and claim it will get more and more efficient and eventually we will be able to burn oil so efficiently that our personal vehicles can fly through the atmosphere at twice the speed of sound. This is a silly comparison. There is a certain quantity of energy stored in oil, so we know what peak efficiency looks like. We don't actually k…
