What Hacker News says?

  1. Yes, but unfortunately if you want to use something like Okteto[0] it requires the microsoft plugin. There are other third party plugins and tools tightly bound to the Microsoft ones making them unfortunately unusable. [0] https://okteto.com/

  3. I have been following this space alot. Heroku like deployment spaces have exploded recently partly because people miss that experience, partly because buildpack is opensource[1], partly because we have gone through a techshift where it is pretty easy to emulate that. There are two broad categories - 1. Dokku's of the world, one VM (very recently tried adding multi node) and then more recently getporter.dev[2] and ok…

  5. Hi Jacob. I am one of the founders of Okteto ( https://okteto.com/ ), a remote development platform for Compose and Kubernetes applications. We use Syncthing to sync code between the developer laptop and pods running in Kubernetes. I would love to know your thoughts on the strengths and weak points of Mutagen vs Syncthing for this use case. Thanks!

  11. For debuggers, we wrote a few guides like this one: https://okteto.com/blog/how-to-develop-node-apps-in-kubernet... . > We need to maintain separate profiles for running apps in debug mode, to expose the java debug port to the host and supply the right JVM options Yes, you should. This is something you can do in the 'okteto.yml' file. You can specify different environment variables, different commands and even a dif…

  13. There's two parts to Okteto. The open source project ( https://github.com/okteto/okteto ), which launches development environments and works with any kubernetes distribution. And Okteto Cloud ( https://okteto.com ) our development platform for Kubernetes Applications, that integrates everything you need to build cloud native apps (development environments, a build service, a private registry, SSL endpoints, etc...)

Also: https://getporter.dev/ https://convox.com/ https://atomizedhq.com/ And closely related: https://humanitec.com/ https://www.okteto.com/ https://www.env0.com/ And then old options like: https://dokku.com/ https://caprover.com/ And maybe: https://swarmpit.io/ https://coolify.io/ https://www.bunnyshell.com/ https://platform9.com/ And probably a dozen more. It's kind of wild.
