Why HN links it

Commenters link the Superfeedr blog for its posts on its real-time feed service, including a stream API example and an overview of feed readers. The comments do not judge the writing itself.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 5 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

  3. Fanout's great for powering a public-facing realtime API. For example, you can see what Superfeedr did with it here: http://blog.superfeedr.com/stream-superfeedr/ If you're not making an API, and you're just pushing data to your own client applications that you control, then Pusher and Fanout are more or less the same. Although you might like Fanout's simpler pricing model and our more open philosophy.

  11. Hum yes, some of them are selling access to their firehose or subsets of it via PubSubHubbub feeds! For example it's available to any Superfeedr hosted hub : http://blog.superfeedr.com/publisher-callback-and-track/ and we do it for a few of them. Again, having some feeds that can be accessed for free doesn't mean that some others are not subject to fees or more complex TOS :)

  13. I was just discussing about recommendation engines with a friend yesterday. My pet peeve is that i find a lot of the companies, datasets, research focus on the positive aspects of recommendation. There is probably a lot more negative data we're missing out on, which is not being collected a lot. That data consists of things i would "hate". I would want to chart out a hate pattern of the internet and an anti-pagerank o…

  17. Thanks for clarifying your intent, but I think the original commenter is right, there seems to be little here so far that PuSH cannot do. In fact there have been recent proposals for PuSH to gain JSON message formats (I believe superfeedr is now providing JSON data as well). That said, there certainly seems to be room for more PuSH hubs, perhaps that is a direction you can take LiveDirectory. References: PubSubHubBu…
