What Hacker News says?

  1. I started appreciating single duty snippets of code instead of creating large abstractions that tie together multiple snippets of code that all work together. I do this to set myself up for success. (Think of it as making the rungs on a ladder closer together). I haven't fully gone no-code [0], but I am close to it. I also do this to avoid the burnout trap. Working on large projects is physically and mentally taxing…

  11. Stacker is on my shortlist of no code services to try once I've finished scaffolding in Airtable. Others are Bubble ( https://bubble.io ), Boundless ( https://www.boundlesslabs.com ) and Webflow ( https://webflow.com/ ). Stacker looks nice, but why is it better than the other options that have been around for a long time? At $349/app/mo (or $3480/app/yr) it seems more expensive than the others but perhaps the value…

  13. > I have to write an IDE as well as the language This part caught my attention. I've developed a few small languages over the years, with somewhat boring syntax in Lisp or Algol family. The one that has the most longevity (~7 years) and traction (estimated few thousand users) is an XML-based (!) domain-specific language. Frankly it's verbose and kind of ugly, but apparently easy to learn due to its regular, minimal…

  15. 90% of developers jobs today can be automated. The author is largely overstating the job of software development and confusing "software engineering" with "software development" SE is indeed a creative process that requires a lot of thinking , conflicting point of view and a often a crazy amount of research in order to do anything ( Database System , CLI etc... ) But for the rest , I'm an enterprise architect in ban…

  25. Because it is exactly what their target customer base wants to hear. A non-technical person with an idea doesn't want to go into debt or give up significant ownership of their company just to see if their product idea is worth anything. I agree that when this type of sentiment crosses over into an "us vs them" (non-tech vs tech) mentality it's problematic. Having a confrontational mindset towards any integral part o…

  29. Personally I would start with one of these: https://bubble.io/how-to-build or scratch then build some things. then search on the internet and see if there's any tutorials on how to do it with code. I think the first step is to think about what he would like to build.
