  7. Migrations. All my database logic lives in version control. Popular tooling like Phoenix, Hasura, etc have good built in migration stories. https://www.bytebase.com looks really promising. Hover, I do struggle with one big issue: changing database logic (views, functions, etc) that has other logic dependent on it. This seems like a solvable problem.

  13. You may take a look at Bytebase.com. It's using plain SQL and has a web-based UI to do schema migration for team collaboration. Disclaimer: I am the author of it. >> it could enforce patterns / naming / conventions / indexes etc. That resonates with us as well. We already have backward-compatibility check https://bytebase.com/doc/error#backward-incompatible-migrati... and plan to add those enforcement gradually as y…

  15. Every job is evolved over time from tools to missions. For example, I was using Visual Basic 6.0 to develop a single-server software on Windows XP about 20 years ago, but now I'm using Golang and many other tools to develop web-based and Serverless services in the Cloud. I'm sure the job description of DBA is being redefined too. As a contributor to https://bytebase.com/ , we are hoping to provide a tool to DBAs by…

For the general ones, usually, we can’t just write in 1 language and translate it to another. 29. I was referring to blog posts, for example [1], in which you admittedly use both terms in the text, but you focus more on "state-based" for example in the headline and image. You also erroneously conflate declarative migrations with somehow involving `mysqldump` for some reason? This is what I mean when I say posts like this feel like they're designed to make declarative migrations seem strange and foreign. I realiz…
