HN discussionThe last iOS UI I did prototyping work on was done using PowerPoint using a set of sketch-styled components (from this[1] guy, although I can't find the particular set that I used on his site right now). Mostly worked out pretty nicely and avoided the inevitable digressions into "what shade of puce should the title bar be", but there is no way to adequately express on Hacker News the facepalm I made when someone com…

HN discussionI wouldn't say Affinity Designer is a workaround and it's far more capable and powerful (and less painful to use) than PowerPoint for UI design. But...you can use PowerPoint or Keynote for creating simple clickable prototypes that can be very effective. For example: https://keynotopia.com/

HN discussionVery good course (teaches UX from fundamentals): https://www.udemy.com/course/ultimate-guide-to-ux/ Currently it costs $75, but Udemy often has coupons/promotions for up to 95% off (I registered for $15). This course is normally $5000+. It is very thorough and well-explained. Like 20+ hours of video lectures, slides and full transcripts. Also the instructor is very responsive and active in the course's private FB gr…

HN discussionKeynotopia is a pretty good mockup alternative for iPhone and iPad apps. It's not an application per se, but it's a set of templates for Keynote (or PowerPoint or Open Office). You export the result as a clickable PDF which works in a variety of viewers like GoodReader. http://keynotopia.com/ You can get pretty nice results that are somewhat interactive on the device itself.
