Commenters link this agency blog for its skeuomorphism essays, a post on EC2 SSH tooling, and an office project story about 'Is the toilet free?'. Most links are neutral citations, with one dismissive comment.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 8 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

  3. ain't feedback a relic of all 'press-double-hard-to-be-sure' buttons? With handwriting recognition it shouldn't be that hard. also, http://madebymany.com/blog/wizards-and-haptic-gestures

  5. "Apple set the bar for realistic textured apps. Developers followed." IMHO, this was to be avoided. I think this move on Apple's part to move towards such literal skeuomorphism was a major step back. 7. Related: http://madebymany.com/blog/apples-aesthetic-dichotomy . This writer brings up an excellent question: for whatever reason Apple seems to think having skeuomorphic interfaces is a good idea.... so why isn't this reflected in the hardware itself? 9. This is a better article about skeuomorphism for those interested: http://www.andymangold.com/skeuomorphism-the-opiate-of-the-p... PS - Skeuomorphism definition: "Strictly speaking it means retaining design features from earlier designs when those features previously had a specific reason for being that way, but do not any longer." - http://madebymany.com/blog/apples-aesthetic-dichotomy

  11. This is my take on this: uses a tagging convention on your EC2 instances. Can also run commands in parallel over a set of instances. https://github.com/madebymany/moltar http://madebymany.com/blog/a-little-tooling-goes-a-long-way
