What Hacker News says?
This is a great tool! I have also recently started using a divergent color palette[1] when designing figures for publication, it's amazing how much nicer it looks than, for example, default color schemes in most graphing software... Definitely going to bookmark this for future use. [1] https://learnui.design/tools/data-color-picker.html#divergen...

HN discussionThis stuff all falls under the umbrella of “design”. One thing that helped me a ton was the articles at https://learnui.design - especially the 2-part “Rules for Designing Gorgeous UI”. The course itself is also excellent.

HN discussion> Right now when I want something to look a particular way, I go into a CSS file, guess... This is what I used to do, before I started really getting into web design. Then I discovered Sketch, which really changed the way I think about it. When you design with CSS, you're also constantly struggling with responsiveness, HTML structure, and a bunch of little things that are sort of irrelevant to how it looks . Sketch…

HN discussionI think this article is a lot more practical: https://learnui.design/blog/color-in-ui-design-a-practical-f... Eric Kennedy does a great job of giving me rules-of-thumb to work with so that I don't feel like I'm just making arbitrary adjustments to numbers. And I think the examples he provides look a lot better than the result of the original tutorial above.

HN discussionWhat is that slightly blackletter font being used for the title? [1] I like it, but it seems to not be used in the interactive example. [1]: https://learnui.design/tools/img/typography-tutorial/tmatag-...

HN discussionIt's definitely not cheap, but I would be surprised if Erik Kennedy's https://www.learnui.design isn't the best course out there. In fact, he has three courses: 1. UI design 2. UX design 3. Landing Page design I own all 3 and they are among the best purchases I've ever made, even at the cost. Erik is a former programmer who has taken the engineers mindset and systematically analyzed and broken down the various parts…

HN discussionI'm curious about this as well. I've gone through both of these courses: https://learnui.design and https://learnux.design and they were excellent. However, they are mostly focused on the practical side of things (which is good) and I think that building a conventional design base would also benefit me. This RISD program looks interesting.
