What Hacker News says?

  1. When graphical gimmics steal the show: https://boredzo.org/pointers/boxes.png visualizes both pointers and their target (an integer) as 3d boxes. So the sizeof(int) is the edge length of this target? Normally we see such guiding images with 2d boxes. There's nothing wrong with 3d because clearly, integers are also not 2d (they are not even 1d). However, don't associate the size of theses boxes with the memory size o…

  7. For Mac OS X you have clicktoflash for blocking flash but it isn't a browser add-on, rather a plugin (similar to Flash, Silverlight etc.) Technical details: http://boredzo.org/blog/archives/2009-01-29/how-clicktoflash... I'd love to see a similar plugin on Linux for Firefox, Chromium etc. http://boredzo.org/blog/archives/2009-01-29/how-clicktoflash...

  9. Oh, wow! This is the creator of Glypha ( https://boredzo.org/glypha/ ). I spent countless hours playing that game in the mid-ish 90's. Like so many games back then, you could tweak things with ResEdit. Nobody would believe my high score because they knew i could modify it.

The author of this article had put up a whole post on pointers in c which to date is what I use to refresh my memory. https://boredzo.org/pointers/ This along with the pointers by Nick Parlante helped me get over my pointers Heebie-jeebies. http://cslibrary.stanford.edu/102/PointersAndMemory.pdf
