What Hacker News says?

  1. All the SOTA LLM solutions like this have nearly the same problem. Sure the context window is huge, but there is no guarantee the model understands what 100K tokens of code is trying to accomplish within the context of the full codebase, or even into the real world, within the context of the business. They are just not good enough yet to use in real projects. Try it, start a greenfield project with "just cursor" lik…

  5. Supermaven[1] has addons for vscode as well for jetbrains (and neovim). And it is so good that I quickly decided for their paid plan [1] https://supermaven.com/

  9. Vendoring the binary guarantees that I control what is running. It isn't installed, just run locally from the lib. I'll quote the OP issue on GH: > Now I found that it downloads (here) even some proprietary binary from https://supermaven.com , i.e. unaudited and unauditable code, without any verification (except TLS)! This opens Zed up to Man In The Middle attacks and Supply Chain attacks. And now that Zed has indic…

  11. We should update the site to be clearer about this. There is a 7-day data retention limit listed in https://supermaven.com/pricing .

  15. I don't think Supermaven is dead... Even though it is also part of Cursor, you could subscribe to the $10/month Pro plan and use it in Jetbrains IDEs like Rider. https://supermaven.com/pricing

  16. Here's a version that keeps closer to the original text while fixing the main typos: Very happy with https://supermaven.com . Switched to it from Copilot, and it's faster and has a much better understanding of what I'm trying to do. I think it uses a git diff + some other stuff that it feeds into the context window that makes it so that when I'm working on a new feature, when i’m creating say the 3rd it understands…
