What Hacker News says?
For me, https://ipdata.co/ is a perfect example of a super simple SaaS application. Jonathan, the founder, also wrote a great piece on how he built it https://hackernoon.com/how-to-build-a-saas-with-0-fed2341078... HN discussionIt also pains me to have to sift through all the meta noise. But some examples do stand out. patio11 is one. I recently found about Tyler Tringas, who has open revenue numbers, is profitable, and specifically focused on making the business as automated as possible to have time. He was going to write and sell a "metabook", but decided against it precisely for reasons of credibility. He's publishing it for free at htt…

HN discussionHey Glenn. I don't think there's anything wrong with VC per se, but it's no longer a fit for most software businesses (why the best firms are moving to crypto, robotics, AI, etc). We have an outdated association with software company needs capital = VC. https://tylertringas.com/a-new-default-funding-for-tech-comp...

HN discussionI like Jerry's work a lot but come to a different conclusion. My basic thesis is that we're in the deployment age of the internet/web/mobile era and there is a whole new wave of a lot lower risk and a bit less reward opportunities for companies to bring the "peace dividend" of the software areas into markets that are not winner-take-all. The upside is these businesses are much more capital efficient, can scale and p…

HN discussionAppreciating the good discussion here around "angel investing" which I broadly agree with depending on how you define it. Just want to clarify that for me personally, I meant just investing in early-stage businesses in creative ways; not VC, moonshot, whatevers. In the run up to launching many failed businesses prior to Storemapper I accumulated nearly $60k in credit card debt, which functioned more or less like an…

HN discussionAn interesting post by Tyler Tringas about being sued as a founder. Obviously there's an AI angle to this post, but I also found it an interesting look in to the power dynamics of civil litigation in the US. In a previous post [0] they talk about the impact of the litigation, which seems to have contributed to the shuttering of his fund [0] https://tylertringas.com/code-concrete/

HN discussionhttps://tylertringas.com/selling-my-bootstrapped-saas-busine... Might contain a few useful tidbits. What most stuck with me from his pieces on microSaas is that the best time to sell is when you don’t have to - which implies that you should not put yourself in a situation where starting the talks leads you to have to sell (because you fall in love with the idea of selling, of you neglect the business, etc)
