Why HN links it
HN commenters link Delta as a pointer to a new code-change tool from the Zed makers, a database of changes kept in sync with the working directory that agents edit directly. Commenters are unsure what it does.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 8 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

What Hacker News says?
Maybe something like delta? This is still pretty new from the folks that make Zed, but looks promising and would address some of the things you mention https://delta.dev/

HN discussionInteresting. Was sad to see so many products in this area sunset (most after acquihires). I wonder if tools built around multiplayer LLM work won't win out though? Any thoughts on how this compares to https://delta.dev/ ?

HN discussionDammit, why can't we get more inventive with naming our projects? How we're supposed not to confuse it with https://delta.dev ? There's also diffing thingies https://dandavison.github.io/delta and https://jmacd.github.io/xdelta

on “Delta: Highly available, strongly consistent storage using chain replication (2022)”Is this basically trying to do something similar to Zed's https://delta.dev/ , but from Slack instead of an IDE?
